62' x-frame to ladder frame
I have an extra frame that I wanna play around with and get rid of the x-frame and make into a ladder frame. Would doing this allow me to buyu stuff that fits on the later 63' frame? What things would be need to make this happen?

Re: 62' x-frame to ladder frame
You can find just as much stuff for the x frame as the ladder. In fact Porterbuilt has a x member to stiffen the ladder bar frame, as seen on Gas Monkey Pikes Peak truck. So your not winning by swapping enless your making a shorter frame. PORTERBUILT has everything I used and 72-87 spindles work with ball joints, keep torsion bars to have nicer ride. Parts are what you make of it.

Re: 62' x-frame to ladder frame
You aren't going to end up with a '63-'66 frame just by removing the X from the middle. The '60-'62 frames are also wider from the front suspension back. If you don't like the '60-'62 frames, just find a '63-'66 frame. A '67-'72 frame will also work, but with some extra mods. If you do change frames, be sure to do it legally. Check with your local DMV.

Re: 62' x-frame to ladder frame
IMO X frames are stronger, front cross member swap from a 72-87 is just as easy, 22 gallon Poly gas tank from a 1992-1996 caprice wagon works well with the extra width in the back.
