Push rod hold for fuel pump install on BB
On some small blocks I have used a through hole in the front of the block to insert a bolt (etc) to hold the push rod from camshaft up into its channel (instead of using heavy grease, slip strip, etc). Is there such an opening on the front of BBs?

I don't remember one being in the front but there is a plug under the fuel pump hole that you can remove to push back the rod.

Just use some wheel bearing grease on the rod, that will hold it for a while.

I've also used thicker type grease in the past

Re: Push rod hold for fuel pump install on BB
Thanks hugger - first time I've done a fuel pump on a BB - found the plug. Helpful.
