You'd have to check with your inspection station to see on the legality i your area.
The big problem is now, 99% of the tire shops won't let your truck in there building if you have the split rims, so now you are stuck doing it yourself. And if you never done it, I do not recomend doing it. There is a place for these rims, (Other than the garbage) if a truck never leaves the farm, and the owner knows the dangers of them, then that is an awsome set up, otherwise, ditch them fast. They can, and have sevored ppl's heads off. These trucks als came with one piece rims...standard if not mistaken. Use them.Way safer, and still correct. |

Quick question.... How exactly do these things come apart and have the chance of cutting heads off?

The ring is under high pressure, it wants to be 17 inches in diameter, but it is squeezed into a 15 inch rim.
Also, once the tire is getting filled, any small portion of the snap ring that is not installed 100% correctly, the tire pressure will blow it off and the aforementioned pressure will send it flying. You are supposed to fill it up in a cage so that the ring can not get you, but I doubt any of us hve the proper cage. |
