Clicking truck?!
I am getting an intermittent clicking noise (like an old timey telegraph key) from under my dash and I can't figure out what it is. It just started the other day and I am stumped. Any ideas of what to look for?

You might have leaves hitting your fan in the heater box. (I don't know what it's technically called.) Mine did that until I pulled the heater box and cleaned everything out.

Is your horn hooked up and working? If not it could be the horn relay clicking when the wire touches ground.

I would check that, but my fan is DOA (hasn't worked since I bought the truck).
I changed my steering wheel to a late model wheel and I didn't even bother to hook the horn up.

Sounds like the horn relay Krue. Bet the new wheel is making some sort of partial intermitant connection, but not enough to totally activate the relay and honker. (experience speaking)

To figure if it is the horn relay, look under the dah by the fuse panel. The silver metal thing mounted rightbeside it woith a plug on the laft hand side...unplug it and see if the noise goes away.

I have narrowed it down to somewhere around the ventilation box under the passenger side of the dash. I guess it could be on the firewall. Any ideas before I start tearing my under dash apart?

Does it do this when you are driving or does it do this when you are stopped as well??
If only driving, my bet is the speedo cable.... |

I found it! A relay on the engine side of the firewall just to the passenger side of the distributor. So what in the hay is it?

Krue according to the LMC pictures it's a relay for the heater or AC blower motor.

Thanks Bill. You got a couple of tires you don't need? One of my 33's blew out today and I am down to 32 and a half . I guess I am just going to find two tires to put on the front for now.
FOR NOW famous last words, eh?
