Re: Lokar floor shifters???

I've seen and helped people put them in countless vehicles from 72 chevy's all the way to cj7 jeeps, and there never is a problem with clearance, they have a lot of adjustment to make them fit. You may just have to cut a new hole in the trans tunnel for the shifter to fit depending.

Re: Lokar floor shifters???

I prefer the floor mounted one over their tranny mounts for secureness and less vibration but either way thay are top of the liune with high quality that lasts

Not sure on the 700-R4, but the floor mounted version installed perfect on our 400 Turbo. Instructions were very detailed and the Lokar quality can't be beat. I love the button on the knob to release the shifter for gear changes.

Re: Lokar floor shifters???

I have one on my 700r4. It's theasy type that mounts onto the transmission. It was the first time I had done anything like that. It was pretty easy and it's very secure.

Ricky; is your setup in the 67-72 trucks?
I looked under at the trans both sides and I don't see any bosses with tapped threads to mount the trans mount saddle shifter and brackets. The tail shaft housing one looks pretty easy to install but it might encroach on the seat for the usage of a straight shift lever. I guess I could get the curved shift lever one.

The three I have in mind are from Jegs, #'s are 1 is 625-FMS6700AB 23" lever, 2 is 625-ATS6700AB 23" lever, 3 is 625-ATS6700CTMM 12" lever this one is the tail shaft mount the two others are a saddle type mount. I can go back on Jegs site and look for installation instructions.

Re: Lokar floor shifters???

It's been a while, but I don't think the bosses in the tranny are threaded. The studs thread into the carrier skeleton, for lack of better terms, and locks into the tranny case. Mine is on my '57. The floor is completely flat and there's no interference.

I did find a Video on Summit's web site showing the install of the trans mounted one it was in a "You Tube" trailer and there was a few more trailers also. I found the left side of tranny having a non threaded boss but didn't see the right side one. I have to look again.
