1980 Bonanza with 21K all original
I would like to present Penny C Bonanza.
She was born Feb 1980 and is still in factory condition. Just a few facts about this beauty K10, 350/350, manual splicer hubs, stock height 31x10.5x15 Just rolled 21,000 miles She sports all the factory sheet metal, paint and factory interior. AM radio still works perfect. Very cold AC. |

Re: 1980 Bonanza with 21K all original
Very nice truck!! I love to see these trucks left original as when they were new. For me the way these squares looks originally is what drew me to liking them as a kid and still as a adult. The two tone colors really do look sharp.

Re: 1980 Bonanza with 21K all original
It's true they always look better in stock colors and trim. I didn't know you could still get that small tail gate trim in 1980. That is my favorite tailgate trim and I thought it was only available in 75-76. The whole truck looks great.

6" lift and "convoy" dual whips are in your future? Ha. Beautiful truck, thanks for sharing. What a time capsule. Doesn't even look like it has 21k on it.

As long as you are tooting your horn how about telling what that kind of truck in that condition cost. I am sure we all would like to know.

Re: 1980 Bonanza with 21K all original
I assume The Deluxe Front option is why it has the rectangle headlight and corresponding trim but wonder why it says Bonanza on all trim but has Cheyenne listed on the trim tag. That narrow center tailgate trim is usually a Cheyenne level trim only. Looks like someone knew what they wanted and how to order it.
That thing looks ridiculously clean. Nice find Frank

. Beautiful survivor! What's the back story on it? Curious where/how you found it, why such low miles, etc? . .

Re: 1980 Bonanza with 21K all original
This is the story th at I got from the po. Husband and wife used it for their Sunday truck, he had another one thet was the M-S. Both stayed in a heated/cooled basement type garage. The husband passed first and one of the grand kids got his truck then the lady passed and another grand son got this one. He only kept it a month before he sold it to a rancher that was going to use it as a ranch truck. One of the guys that worked for the rancher explained what kind of truck and the value of it so he placed it on a classic auto trader and the guy that I got it from went and got it. Long story short I had purchased some NOS parts from a guy and when I went to pick them up he had 7 big block, running/complete trucks and one suburban, all 2 wd. So I ask if he had any 4x4's and this is what he showed me. This guy has 6 enclosed building FULL of old cars, 35 to be exact. And he has a salvage yard with many more that he pulls parts from. This guy was a painter at GM back in the day and has rebuilt many squares, he showed me the photo book. After two long months of trying to figure out what I had to do to get enough money to make a good offer on the truck I finally sold my 88 crew cab and made the call. He made it clear that he really didn't want to sell it unless I had LOTS of cash to offer! Deal was made and I brought it home. While unloading it I wasn't straight on the ramp and it cut one of the side walls on the 1995 tires, second set ever installed. Boy was I upset. After much thought I decided on the 31's and had the local tire place install them. The kids these days really have no idea how to treat other people's property. Driver was in the truck and the spotter was backing him out and almost left the jack under the truck, glad I was there to point it out. Then after the front bumper cleared the bay door the cut it had and almost backed over a stack to tires/wheels. The kid driving thought I was nuts when I told him to stop and get out of my truck. Thankfully I got him stopped before he got into the body!

Re: 1980 Bonanza with 21K all original
You are welcome.
Did he happen to say which plant he worked in? I either worked in or launched product in all the different squarebody assembly plants. K
