Re: Insurance
Allstate, but I have been with them since 1975 and always had one old car or truck insured as a primary driver so am "grandfathered". When I looked in the 90's to possibly change main line insurers would not insure old cars as DD.

Re: Insurance
ANPAC Chrome (American National Property and Casualty). Very affordable, declared value coverage.

Re: Insurance
Forgot to add, my policy has the old cars are replacement value up to 10K (64 Chevelle). Over that (59 truck) I need an appraisal and then get an agreed value.

Re: Insurance
Bump. I'm also interested in this. I currently have basic insurance on my 53 thru usaa but I know I won't get crap back if I wreck. After my rebuild I will be in the same boat as you.

Re: Insurance
I paid high dollars for my '49 and insured it for 300 something but I'm not allowed to drive it to work. Grundy is my insurer, Haggerty denied and you should avoid them.

Re: Insurance
i was with haggerty for a couple years, they canceled me when they found out how many miles i drove it each year. grundy no longer takes new policies, but grundy worldwide does (no idea what the difference is)
i am now with grundy worldwide, thru https://www.phly.com/Products/CollectorCar.aspx philadelphia insurance is the underwriter for grundy worldwide. when i told them i drive everywhere in the summer, they had no problem. you do need proof of a daily drive insured thru a regular carrier. make sure you get an agreed value policy, nothing else will do. a group of us were talking at a cruise about insurance. one guy mentioned he had all of his cars insured thru allstate. he insisted he had 'full' coverage. he got in a wreck last summer and totaled his 34 ford, his 'full' coverage did not include any cost to repair his car. if you don't have an agreed value policy your vehicle is not covered

I'm with Grundy Worldwide too. Agreed Value is very important. Also, a lot of people think "Stated Value" is the same thing. It's not! Both "Agreed Value" and "Stated Value" have specific and different definitions in the insurance world. |

Re: Insurance
I went through GEICO, they have a division for classics, I told them the value, sent pics etc. I estimated my milage per year on it(3500) and it was 120$ a year. But I did need to show that I have another vehicle I drive primarily.

Re: Insurance
I have Hagerty for three vehicles with no problems. Vehicles are not, and cannot be, daily drivers. You need proof of a daily driver.
For many years my truck was on my Allstate policy. It took an appraisal and some work by my agent to get them to insure it for more than a few thousand dollars though. No mileage restrictions but not cheap, either. Be sure to check limits for comprehensive coverage. A policy can insure the truck for a total loss with an agreed amount but fall short if all the glass gets busted by a punk. |

Re: Insurance

Re: Insurance
When I had my rigs insured with State Farm I had a stated value policy on the 48 with no mileage or driving restrictions.
If your regular agent is a multi line agent I'd check with them first. On another note I've been having trouble getting insurance on my sailboat because of it's age but got a policy online yesterday through my regular insurance company. Great deal for them as that boat sits in the yard on the trailer most of the year.

Re: Insurance
you guys with geico, allstate and state farm need to get it in writing that you have a agreed value policy
my buddy with the 34 had the same understanding with his insurance guy ''yeah your covered'', doesn't cover much in a wreck if it doesn't say agreed value and have the agreed value on your policy, you get blue book which is $0 on anything 15 years or older

However, I'm pretty sure State Farm insures you through a 3rd party underwriter on classic cars. I'd don't believe multi-car or other discounts apply. |

Re: Insurance
Yeah, my truck is the only thing insured though State Farm. Everything else including home is through Mercury.

Check to see if your classics are listed as "Agreed Value".

Re: Insurance
When you get an "Agreed Value" policy, YOU give them the value you want to insure the classic car for. They have a review process to approve the amount you give. Sometimes no questions are asked and sometimes they want photos and or some documentation before they approve that amount.

Re: Insurance
I can't say for 100% sure since things change so quickly when it comes to the insurance industry. I've also never been with State Farm.
But from everything I've heard on all the car forums I've belonged to, when people have what is definitely an "Agreed Value" policy through State Farm, it has been underwritten by a third party company. I quick call to your agent should answer the question. |
