Future ideas
So with my truck making it past inspection I have a few ideas to improve the truck over all and wonder what you all think.
Front swaybar, salvage or new would need specs where to rob one Turbo robbed out of a car for the little 283 to spool up Stereo need to find mounting options for the speakers might make some for the kicker panels and 6x9 in the cab corners I will be cutting the dash to accomedate a modern stereo, I know I'm a terrible person but this isn't a super hard fix or rare resto. T5 trans from an s10 need to find out what year and what it involves the three speed floor conversion isn't satisfying with granny first. Was thinking I have a ram air filter set up if that only peeked out of the hood a bit... Has anyone made custom headers I would be interested in trying this. Any more suggestions on what good cheap upgrades are would be appreciated!

Re: Future ideas
Do those Retrosound kickpanels allow full use of the vents?

Re: Future ideas
I was gonna build some kick panels so that it wouldn't effect anything I don't want a random wire between the door jams

Re: Future ideas
You don't have to cut the dash for a stereo, as there are stereos to get that just fit like a stock radio. Mounting would be far easier, and there are stereos for every budget. As far as the speakers go, I am interested in a headliner with built-in speakers, it is in the LMC and Classic Parts catalogs. Additional speakers under the seat and perhaps a compact subwoofer would complete the package.

Re: Future ideas
If your truck doesn't have a front sway bar ? Yeah that would be my First improvement !
My truck has (all 3 c10s I've owned in fact had) a sway bar from factory, I can't imagine driving one without. These trucks with the trailing arm rear suspension (and front sway bar) handle corners way better than any newer truck can and all the while riding a whole lot better. As for where and what to get ? I'd look at local wreckers, one that deals with older stuff, you're gonna need the bushing/mount brackets off both the frame and the lower a-arms. 67-72 V8 pickups (higher optioned) c10s and more likely c20s and (most if not) all suburbans had front sway bars. An even easier and better source are the 73-87 c10/20s as the later ones all had 1-1/8" bars instead of the 1" on our trucks. |

Re: Future ideas
I thought about doing the aluminum panels in the glove box under the dash and a center console for the stereo but like I said I'm not too worried there's a local guy who sells the panel to fix the dash, I weld professionally and I never plan on selling the truck so I do it for me. My question is more about speakers I'm itching to get the alpine speaker I got in. Also already bought a jvc head for 100$
For speakers I just want two 6-1/2 in the kickers just something to listen to besides the engine nothing crazy I thought about doors but to me it seems like a pain to run the wires through the door jams. Ya it's kinda like driving a school bus rolls all over but having to hold on is pretty damn fun for passengers. I found one on summit a full kit for 130$ 1-1/4 not sure if I can beat that at the wreckers.
