8 lug to 5 lug c20 to c10 Noob don't throw rocks LOL
I've loved the 67-72 trucks for some time. So much that I have sold my 68 chevelle project and now jumping into a truck project. I just bought a 69 c20. I would like to eliminate the 8 lug wheels and go to 5 lug like the c10's. That being said, I don't know what years are interchangeable for this. I would like something that bolts in without breaking the bank. I have access to a 76 c10 parts truck....but I don't know if they share the same wheel base etc. I have the trailing arms/coil spring setup. So far I know I want to do the following:
4.8L /5.3L/6.0L engine/tranny transplant 4 6" drop Please be gentle as this is all new to me.....if it was chevelle I could talk your ear off LOL. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Last edited by musicman75; 07-14-2016 at 02:52 PM. |

Yes but, why would you want LESS lug nuts?!?!?!?!?!
The more lug nuts you have, the kooler you are!

The whole front suspension from the crossmember out will bolt in but you might have to drill a hole or two.The rear end will take some welding to swap in it.

I'm in the middle of this conversion myself. In the front; ECE 2.5 conversion drop spindles. One coil removed from original springs. The back half is underway. I figure, I'm already going to burn in hell for wrecking a perfectly good C/20 so why not incorporate some parts from the dark side. So I'm setting up a Ford 9 inch.

Re: 8 lug to 5 lug c20 to c10 Noob don't throw rocks LOL
Thanks for the help so far guys. So I would have to adapt the 76 rear end to make it work? What exactly do I have to weld? I'm assuming I should grab the brake booster and proportioning valve as well off the 76? Any other parts that you think I need? Basically a buddy of mine has the 76 he bought for himself for a parts truck and he has everything he needs off it, so I can get whatever I need assuming he hasn't grabbed it for his own project.

You will have to buy and weld on trailing arm axle perches which a few places sell them and the track bar mount on the axle you need to cut off the old one and weld on the new one.But if your looking to lower the truck you need a adjustable track bar so look in to that part see if it uses the factory mount or comes with one.Take a look at http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=550878 he did the same thing just used a bigger rear end.
