1970 C20 Front Disc Brake Confusion
I traded some wood working skills for a friends 1987 3/4 ton Chevy front end that he did not need for his restoration. The conversion is complete except for the Master Cylinder and Booster.
My question is... to make this upgrade work what/which M/C & Booster do I use and what modifications do I need to do. I used the front brake lines and proportioning unit from the 87 with the same locations and ran lines from there to the M/C. Now What? Seems like there are tons of options. |

You need the disc brake master cylinder. plumb it just like it was in the donor truck.

I used a 72 booster bracket (It places unit farther from firewall), C30 brake booster, and master Cyl. Here it compared to my 1970 c20 power booster set up.

Re: 1970 C20 Front Disc Brake Confusion
I haven't done a swap on a C20, so I don't know if the booster is a direct bolt in. Check to see if your brake pushrod lines up, and the bolt holes for the booster line up on the firewall. Once you verify that it all bolts in fine, bench bleed the master cylinder. If you didn't install new rubber lines from the frame to the calipers, now is the time to do it. They deteriorate over time and if you do it now you won't loose a bunch of brake fluid all over your floor. They are usually pretty cheap. I would think 15 - 20 bucks per side. I would do the one in the rear at this time also.
