Re: Lowering questions
You can use stock shocks with just a 2" front lowering spring.

Re: Lowering questions
Better to buy dropped spindles, they don't compromise the steering geometry. Do get the front end aligned in either case.

Re: Lowering questions
Absolutely nothing wrong with drop springs. That's the route GM takes when they build lowered trucks.

Re: Lowering questions
A 2" drop via springs isn't really bad for geometry at all. A full 4" or 5" drop starts making a lot more compromises.
Eventually, the 2" won't be enough, and when you get spindles the resulting 5" drop will be awesome. Say it with me: "awesome." Give'r. It'll be good. Alternatively, buy some Moog 1-ton coils, and lop a coil or coil and a half off. Probably cheaper than lowering springs, and certainly stiff enough.

Re: Lowering questions
Thanks all, I'm still considering spindles
Now I have a new question Its an 84 C10 I get a discount at Oreilly's through my employer and i'm getting all my bushings ball joints etc there, They really screwed up my order today and got me 4 right inner tie rod ends and 3 upper A-arm bushing sets. The guy is telling me that left and right inner and left and right outer are the same even though the website lists different part numbers that I just looked up tonight. Im calling BS after seeing the part numbers and plan on a discussion monday when my other parts come in. So are they the same? Ive searched the website and google but haven't found an answer. Some part stores say front outer/inner without specifying left or right and some say left and right with slightly different dimensions. It will be next year before I start on the truck (I'm building a part supply) so I need to get it right now as it could be a mess returning parts next year. |

Re: Lowering questions
The inner and outer tie rods are different.
Outer are RH thread. The inners are LH thread. This is so you can adjust them in and out during the alignment process.

Re: Lowering questions
Yes, inners are the same. Outers are the same.
