Another inspection

Couple of months ago I had you guys look at an inspection report for a blue/white Tennessee truck. You guys saved my butt. Here's another for your consideration. I plan to test drive and inspect the truck Tuesday so appreciate the following

Would this truck work as a DD, about 2K miles a year
What about the issues identified by the report
What should I offer

http://www.carzinspection.com/viewin...ode=aajznfdtou

Enter "Robert" and "4762" to view

Some other details, provided by the seller
  1. 1972 Chevy Cheyenne 10 Longbed truck
  2. 350/Turbo350 automatic
  3. Power steering and power brakes
  4. Everything works on this truck down to the original radio
  5. Heater works as well as A/C and it was just charged
  6. Truck drives like it is new
  7. Paint and interior are very nice as shown in pictures
  8. White w/Black interior (original interior color was blue)
  9. Previous owner installed headliner material on interior of cab
  10. Headliner has tear behind driver as shown in picture
  11. This is a very solid driver/not a show truck

Thanks for your time

Rob

Re: Another inspection

I tried to log into it but came up as an error.
It's all in what you like as a truck, some may say great others not, so hope it works out, if not always another. Good luck.
Mudman.

Re: Another inspection

I think sawyer had a typo. Use "4762" (not 52)

Re: Another inspection

Few things to take into consideration based on the report and what you've posted from the sellers description. Figure on having to do some work to the AC again. They mention it being recently charged but nothing on converting to r134, changing the pol(?) valve for r134, or fixing any leaks. If I had done any of those things it would've been mentioned. But it is AC, it's gonna leak eventually even if those things were done.

The paint job. The report mentions poor prep, and particularly poor masking around the fuel filler. That grommet around the fuel filler isn't all that expensive, they could've easily removed it (even if they had to destroy it) for painting. This can speak to a lower overall quality or that could be their only real mistake. The report isn't very clear on overall condition.

The other area of concern is the lack of info on the usual rust problem areas of these trucks. No mention or pics of the rockers, cab corners, etc. Overall looks like a decent driver though. Appears to have had a rattle can resto underneath at some point not too long ago, and a repaint up top but not too intensive a resto as it appears pretty solid. Still check the usual places for rust and/or shoddy repairs though. Sorry, can't really help you with what to offer though. What are they asking?

Re: Another inspection

To me this look a decent truck hat would work for your stated needs. The big thing now what is the price? A So Cal truck in that area where there are toms of them is a 8500/9500 truck to me but i have a feeling the asking price because of recent paint and seat upgrade etc. will be more in the 12 range.

Re: Another inspection

It has come to my attention that this truck is owned by a respected member of this forum. Had I known that, I never would have started this post. I apologize to him and anyone I offended.

Looking at the pics it appears to have r134 fittings on the ac, so I think it has been converted. Nice looking long bed though for a dd

Re: Another inspection

A quick update.

On the day I was going to go see the truck, I rode my bicycle six blocks to the store to buy some groceries. On the way home a guy ran a stop sign, hit me and broke my arm in two places. Since then I've been in a cast and unable to drive. The seller, who is a forum member, has been very patient with me but he's getting ready to go on a three week vacation. Any way, I'm sure it will all work out just a bit frustrating.
