motorcycle ride = Longhorn
Sooooo out riding this weekend and came home with this. Truck ran great. I always make my wife drive them home first. If something is gonna break, she will do it. She ran it home at 80 mph for 100 miles. Used a 1/2 tank of gas. Has a weird vacuum gauge on it. Tach works along with all other gauges.

Re: motorcycle ride = Longhorn
Wow... factory shoulder belts!
The vacuum gauge is probably to help the PO get better fuel mileage while driving.

Re: motorcycle ride = Longhorn
So when you are running and the vacuum gauge is in the green, that is your best fuel mileage?

Re: motorcycle ride = Longhorn
yes, it basically equates to coasting downhill. Try to leave a dead stop and you're in the red. Go figure. However, a vac gauge can be a useful tuning tool. To use it to estimate best driving habits is a bit of a waste of time - when you give it gas, you get worse mileage, The End.

Re: motorcycle ride = Longhorn
Drive it as-is or restore it, I'd say. I think it's a good candidate, but then again, I just restored a 2500 Longhorn, so I'm biased...

Re: motorcycle ride = Longhorn
looks like i'm the only clown voting to shorten it. so I WON'T do that. What about lowering it. I think that would look kind of cool. Maybe like 2 or 3 inches?

Re: motorcycle ride = Longhorn
Don't cut , Cause if you do how do you expect your wife to come get you when you and that Motorcycle breakdown , The motorcyle will fit much better in the Long bed , but do lower it ,the bike will be much easier for you and your wife to load..........

Re: motorcycle ride = Longhorn
That's a well optioned beauty. I wouldn't touch except to maybe restore it back to its natural beauty. Is that a 50th anniversary in the back ground too.

I know a local guy that owns one, so I see it often, but if you take his away, I've only ever seen a handful in person. BTW, I did vote to drop it I'd 5 or 6 lug it and drop it 4/6. Suspensions can always be changed back.

Re: motorcycle ride = Longhorn
I think longhorns are cool because they are scarce. If you are looking to cut a truck down it would be better to just do a regular long bed since you don't have to worry about the seam and they are much more common.

I didn't see the sell it to me so I can make it 4wd option. That is a really nice truck. It's a rare time to find any 67-72 that nice in our area!
