Tailgate shim

Did the tailgate trunion have shims originally? Trying to align my gate and not sure how or get it centered.

Thanks

Re: Tailgate shim

The latch will determine center more than the trunions IMO. The tailgate can move back and forth on the trunions.

Re: Tailgate shim

I have shimmed a trunnion before, to center the gate, and eliminate any side to side play.

Re: Tailgate shim

turp is a body man, he tears these old trucks down to nothing and brings them back. I would listen to him before I would listen to myself.

Re: Tailgate shim

I have used flat washers inside them to shim them. Works great and gets rid of the loose play.

Re: Tailgate shim

I was thinking flat washers. Newer trucks have shims from GM. Wondered if these trucks did also...
