68 C20 with 327 true dual exhaust - magnaflows

The shop put this on the truck last Friday. It's 2" right off the exhaust manifolds to 2.5" the rest of the way back. There an h-pipe up front and a couple of 14" body magnaflows before the rear axle. I opted for stock exhaust pipe routing behind the rear tires without any flashy tips.

It is very quiet. It is throaty but I am actually surprised at how very quiet it is. I thought going to the 14" mufflers would make it a little louder. I am not complaining and it will probably get a little louder as the mufflers break in.

I had the same set up as you done my bone stock 72 350 only used 2 1/4 pipes with a Dynomax Muffler. I exited my exhaust same place as you. Truck has a nice rumble and barks if you stand on it. Truck ran better after redoing the exhaust.

Re: 68 C20 with 327 true dual exhaust - magnaflows

I'm not too sure what is on the inside of a Magnaflo that would allow it to break in? Fiberglass? I was a little disappointed with the Flowmaster Delta Series mufflers I had put on my truck. I had the same exhaust configuration put on my truck as you have on yours. I can remember when it was at the muffler shop when they first started it I was like WTF are you kidding me? A little to quiet for me but with a stock engine under the hood I guess that is what you get. It does sound wicked sweet when you get on it hard and let off the gas while shifting the gears, especially when you are going up a street that has buildings on both sides...

Ya the magnaflows are packed mufflers, so they break in a bit over time.

I guess if it's being too quiet or too obnoxious, I would rather have it more quiet. It would probably be louder if someone did a 2 inlet/single outlet muffler.

H-pipe might have mellowed it a little also, but should give you a lil more torque.

I woulda done one more thing to your h pipe.
Put a flanged connector on it.
Easy to do now while it's clean.
Someday you'll be cussing when you want to pull one side off to fix something.

This may be the first time I have seen a rear bumper that is exactly like mine.

Rumor has it these bumpers were a dealer installed option in Northern California only. At least the few I have seen.
