Are all jacks created equal?

My daughter just bought a 03 Silverado 1500. It did not come with the jack and tool kit. I found many jacks like this one, but I noticed the thumb wheel are different colors. This one is green, but most I found were yellow.

What is the difference if at all?

Thanks for your help.

For how much that costs, I'd spend the same $60 and just grab an aluminum race jack (if you don't care about the space in the bed), or a regular bottle jack rated for the weight.

Just me, I never like stock jacks in any car I've owned, sans the all-aluminum 4lb jack that my 79 Rx7 had.

Re: Are all jacks created equal?

Like I mentioned, this is my daughters truck and she is not shy about changing a tire on the side of the road. She has used factory jacks before and had no issues. I want to make sure she has what she needs out on the road.

You're gonna want to check the spare to see if it will come down off the carrier. These are known to be a problem with these trucks. Frequently, atomic weapons cannot dislodge the spare.
