GMC Grill Assembly question

The old fella that owned my truck decided to paint the top bar of the grill. See the picture. Of course, being a thorough guy, he sanded it first, which ruined the chrome. I'm going to have the chrome done, but am not sure how it comes away from the center part of the grill, (the part shaped like a cross). It seems that things are riveted, but it's hard to figure.

Does the bumper have to come off to do this? Can plating shops do the top bar and the grill if they are still joined together.

I would definitely remove the rivets and separate before chroming. When done, I used small nuts and bolts to reassemble.

This is correct.

I replaced upper bar and eyebrows about 10 years ago from good Mark and was very pleased how they matched the grill. I also bolted mine back on.

Thanks to Tom Vogel, RenoKeene, and uncle for the help. Guess I'm gonna have to get busy removing the parts, and hauling them off to a plating shop.

But that makes me wonder, is it a better idea to just buy the parts from one of the suppliers. I see that top bar for under $200 somewhere on line.

The aftermarket upper is junk, better to rechrome an original. My repop is already tarnishing.
