WTB... 327 Block

I'm still dreaming of finding a 327 block with V1220YH code on the pass. side front cyl. heads mount surface. I'll probably never find but ???. I gotta ask every once and awhile...for my 67 CST truck. If you have one let me know thanks.

Update:
I am interested in a truck 327 engine that has been cast/built sometime in the Dec 01 thru Dec 20, 1966 timeframe (early 1967 truck built date potentially). So a casting date code of L 01 6 to L 20 6 (this will be on rear pass side of engine block)

After some education from another board member (thank you SS Tim and PICKMUP)
An engine that the front pass cyl head pad is stamped V1220YH or shortly before such date, such as 12-01 to 12-19 would be awesome. As that is the exact code on my Protect-o-Plate for this truck.
What this code means: V = built in Flint, Mich 1220 = Dec 20th 1966 YH = connected to a TH400 engine.
I am not looking for just any old 327 block/engine, as I have one or two already and have access to a few others.
I am kind of believing that finding a V1220YH (or slightly earlier date cast) stamped block may not be as impossible as I originally thought.

Thank you

I got one is this 72 I'm selling but I don't want to sell just the motor, its a 327 with 350 heads, I got the 327 heads. I'll try to see if it has the numbers you are wanting on it. I'm asking $1200 for the whole truck, rebuilt tranny. Motor was bored .30 for the pistons, .10 under on the mains, it was hot tanked. Has a new eldebrock carb on it. Truck runs and drives good. Thanks Randy

Wasn't that stamped number in sequence and only came in one actual vehicle? If you are trying to get the correct one for your truck you should be looking for a '67 casting date on or before your build sheet date. That is how we get the muscle cars number matching.
Then when you cut the deck it takes the stamped # off and you just restamp the one you want. The casting # is the one that you can't redo.
An example: I have a '68 327 motor with a date code of C 12 8 (Mar 12, 1968) and a stamped # Vo326YV.
This engine is an original 68 Chev PU 3/4T w/4bbl.

I've got a 68 327 for sale but your about as far away as you can get in the continetal US. Stamping is VII24HM. $400 with recent rebuild. Air Cleaner to pan, fan to flexplate. Also have a correct 68 TH400. $200. Ain't a 67 but nevertheless I thought you might want to know.

Teeitup... Thanks for looking at the #'s on the block
Kevhill85 and Vince M... thanks but I am looking for Dec of 1966 cast blocks
Pickmup... I have questions...
So, the only real reason I'm looking for this V1220YH code is. Its the only factory piece missing from my truck. The Protect-o-plate in my owners manual has the V1220YH code, And now that you have said it your exactly right I've decked every motor I've ever built, (duh)

Date code

Let me answer your Q here. The date code is cast on the top rear of the eng on the upper RH side, by the distributor. The letter is the month: A=Jan, B=Feb, C=Mar, etc. Next is one or two numbers for the day of the month. Last is a single number for the year.

ok... but?

How do I know, or find out what Date code my truck needs? I've always just built these trucks never even thought of restoring one, just rebuilding... from what (i think) i've learned previously on this board. My "block" was cast on or before 12-20-66 my truck was originally purchased from a dealership in Iowa in Jan. '67 so do I need to find out the "build date" of the truck or ???. And where do i need to look? Or do i just look for a block cast on or before 12-20-66. does it have another stamp somewhere for Flint, Mich. plant Thanks for helping with this Q.

327 Shortblock

Bryan, From what I have seen over the years is they (GM), will use a block that was cast-built, up to 6 or 8 months later. They have to use up there stock. The 327 shortblock I have for sale on here is dated C 29 6. (March 29, 1966. The suffix # on the number pad is F0406EA. I will bring this engine to the top of parts board. PM me any questions, or leave a post if you are interested.. Thanks, Rich

Re: WTB... 327 Block

OK, so I am reviving this post, all in hopes of finding a engine.
After some education from another board member (thank you SS Tim and PICKMUP)
I am again/still searching for a 327 engine out of a 10-20 series truck.
One that the front pass cyl head pad is stamped V1220YH.
This code means: built in Flint, Mich on Dec 20th 1966 connected to a TH400 engine.
I am not looking for any old 327 short block as I have one already and have access to a few others.
I am interested in talking with anyone that has a 10-20 series truck with a 327 in it that was built sometime in the Dec 1966 timeframe, just to get some info from you.
I am kind of believing that finding a V1220YH stamped block may not be impossible.
So... Here we go !!!

I have a 327 out of my 67 chevy c20 but it had a stick shift. I will check the block #. I was saving this motor for a 67 project.

Re: WTB... 327 Block

I went through the same search for my 67 about a year ago and ended up finding my block on eBay. I just did a quick search and there are actually quite a few 327 blocks on there. They are usually incorrectly advertised as Corvette motors but if you do some searching I know you could find the YH suffix and possibly even the exact one you're looking for.

So, your block is a Dec 28th of 1966 stamping code with a Dec 8th 1966 casting date. So that is approximately a 3 week difference.
And thank you so much for the casting number of 3892657.
The other items I would be curious to know is:
If your engine is all original...
1) what are the head casting numbers and dates?
2)Intake casting numbers and dates?
3)carb number? (I am assuming your will be 7036125 or 7037125)

Oh and are you saying this engine may be for sale?

Thank you so much for the reply.

Didn't expect a reply that quickly.
I guess I need to clarify that I am actually looking for a casting date previous to L-20-6.

Thank you for the reply. seeing the 3903352 casting number adds another cast number to the list of possibilities.
Thanks

It appears that I will need a block with a build date previous to L-19-6 and with a casting number of 3892657
Thanks

After doing alot of reading on the Camaro and Corvette forums/websites, it appears that all Flint, Mich (denoted by the V) were 3892657 block numbers.
So a 3903352 will not be "correct".

So...
I will want to find a 3892657 block with a cast date of anywhere from L-01-6 to L-19-6.
