wheel spacers
I have a 1 ton single wheel crew I'm starting to work on after a few years of it being on the back burner. Can I put 3" spacers on the front and use 1 ton wheels? has anybody done this? thanks, Art

Is this a 2 wheel drive? If it is, you're probably money ahead getting dually rotors and hubs.

2 wheel drive. changed over a 3/4 ton to one ton wheels years ago, had to change spindles because the calipers from the 3/4 ton won't fit the 1 ton rotors. was just wondering about spacers. less headache to bolt on wheel spacers than change everything from spindles out. this truck has c-30 plates, and 10,000 gvw on sticker on door post with all the other info. about the truck, but it has 3/4 ton front brakes, with a 14 bolt rear like the 1 tons do. may want to run 1 ton bud wheels on it.

My 3/4 has a 14 bolt. The rest of what you said confused me but that doesn't take much. Lol

Honestly i wouldn't drive anything with a 3 inch spacer specially with a heavy dually wheel on it.Its a lot safer just to swap out the dually parts and is what i would do.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the front end, converting regular steel wheels to the heavy duty 1 ton wheels. I have never messed with those heavy duty wheels and don't really know what the spacer looks like other than what I see through the wheel. I don't really think it cam be done. I always thought the steel wheels looked better to me.

He wants budd wheels which are dually rims.He wants to use really thick bolt on spacers insted of doing a dually swap on it.

Do a dually swap. That is a lot of leverage on those spacers.

The best thing to do would be to change the rotors to 1 ton rotors.
I would look at factory 1 ton express van/silverado adapter/spacer if you want to use a spacer. 01-10 from dually trucks, and 03-current for dually express/savanna vans. The lug pattern is the same, the hub diameter is the same, the new studs will be 14mm. You may be able to replace them with 9/16 or just get metric nuts. |

Is it's making sense. What's your plan for the rear? I'm asking these questions because I'm considering converting my 3/4 to a dually. Not so much for extra load as much as looks. I'm planning to lower mine though

A dually rear end is wider then a single wheel rear end.But a cab and chassis dually rear is the more narrow then a single wheel rear end.Top dually swap you need the bed the rear end,The front end you need spindles out and maybe tie rods.

The metric studs started in 88(with the gmt400 trucks)
Everything I saw with hub diameter is 117 mm. Maybe an adapter from a 88-00(IFS) 4wd DRW? |

thanks for all the input guys. Think I'll just go with the 1 ton parts and do it the way I did before. getting lazy in my old age and wanted the look and an easier way to get it, thats all.
