Project-Atlas
Here's the build to my 1969 c10. It's the first truck I ever bought and got me into a life style I had never imagined. I picked it up at 16 for 300 bucks and spent every dollar I made over the next couple years to make it a nice driver with new interior. Along the way I met a man named Craig Johnson who turned my views upside down. He was into custom cars and opened up a new realm for me which greatly shaped this truck. Although I'm pretty deep into the build I'll try to show the progress over the years and then get everyone up to speed!

Re: Project-Atlas
Here's where I started fooling with the truck. I'd never worked on anything before but I dove right in and after replacing some bolt on bits I took a swing at the rust repair with the help of my uncle Russ

Re: Project-Atlas
Every evening for a couple weeks I came out to his house and he would guide me along the process but always made me do the work. Thankfully the rusty mess didn't fold up being cut apart like this!

Re: Project-Atlas
Now that I couldn't put my feet through the floor anymore I figured the truck needed attention elsewhere so I kept plugging away. I decided to try pinstriping for a while thankfully I didn't do it to the body!

Re: Project-Atlas
After adding 2" drop coils to the rear of the truck I knew I had started something I couldn't stop. But unfortunately I didn't have the money to go nuts so I settled for working on the interior while I saved

Re: Project-Atlas
Then with some added encouragement from Craig I decided the truck needed to have air ride to do everything I needed. First up was the rear suspension.

Re: Project-Atlas
Well here's an update I wanted to do a nut and bolt check along with a fluid change on the tremec tko. While jacking the truck up the Jack slipped. It ruined the bumper, smashed the core support and seems to have ruined the jack too. Unfortunate accident but luckily it didn't get me too. Since my nice bumper is folded up I decided I might run some white bumpers for a while I kind of like them.

Re: Project-Atlas
Nice build looking great. Sucks about the jack.
I like how you put cribbing under the tires with jack stands. I've seen two people die under a car when a jack gave away. |

Re: Project-Atlas
Nice build all around. Well documented. I especially like how you handled the ignition wires and valve covers. I know it's an LS, but I love the old school Chevy script on the covers.

Re: Project-Atlas
Just read all the way through and great build! I hope I didn't miss it but where you get your seat cover from? I've got the same green interior and I'm looking for that green seat!
Thanks |

Re: Project-Atlas
I've been following your build through Instagram, but somehow missed your thread until now. The truck is looking great! Hard to beat that 505 dark green. The engine bay looks so good too. I'm curious to see what wheels you got, any wheel is going to give it quite a different look from those white walls.

Re: Project-Atlas
Nice build. Truck is really coming out nicely. What did you do with the old radiator cover that was black with the dimple die holes in it?

Re: Project-Atlas
Thanks guys I love the 505 green myself! I used that cover on my other truck but I have one in bare aluminum if you need one let me know the wheel choice is some 20" Bonneville g wheels I think they will look good I've liked them on all the trucks I've seen

Re: Project-Atlas
Trucks looking awesome!
Any more pics of you front fender Wells? I like how you built some extra room for the tires. I'm at the same spot on my project and I'm thinking about doing it? Did that give you about another 1" drop? Thanks |

Re: Project-Atlas
I'll take some pictures next time I'm out there it doesn't really give you any more drop just room for a wider tire. If you want more drop you would have to cut the fender and run another style inner fender

Re: Project-Atlas
Truck is starting to look killer. What was the main issue when you were running the Carb on the LS? Thanks keep up the great work.

Re: Project-Atlas
I had every problem imaginable with the carb, lean rich, diesling, flooding, ect you could set it up and it would run good for one day or one trip. It would hardly get me home from shows I absolutely hated it. I had 3 other people try to tune it too and they were lost and they were die hard Holley guys I won't buy another one but I would try a quadrajet I like Rochester carbs a lot
