rear differential questions
ok so i am looking into rebuilding my 12 bolt with a few goodies inside. so far i have had some difficulties locating the right axles. from what i can find it should be a 31 5/16 axle length but i have found some that are 31 7/16 long. not sure if it will be an issue but it could pose a problem. also the moser axles I'm looking at have a .530 knurl for the wheel studs but those studs are only 1.5" long. i would prefer to run 3" long studs but they are a .630" knurl. i think i should be able to drill out the stud holes to accommodate the larger knurl but i don't want to screw up perfectly good axles. any help that can be given would be great.
and for anyone that reads this my parts list so far includes the following: detroit truetrac limited slip Diff (913A315), Moser engineering Diff cover (7111), Moser Axles(A30-70GMT2), richmond Gear 4.10:1 (RMG-6902041), richmond gear ring and pinion install kit (RMG-831018B), Royal Purple 75W90 (01300), yukon gear and axle install kit (14068) and then the studs in question moser engineering studs 1/2-20x 3in long .625 knurl (8010) and the double up of the install kits is for some spare parts just in case things done go according to plan.

Re: rear differential questions
What kind of power are you planning to put down that you require this type of drive-train? If you have a good guy that knows his stuff, you don't need two kits. However, plan on having your ass handed to you compressing the crush sleeve. Save the $150 on one of the kits and invest in a quality 3/4" breaker bar and socket. And have a fabricator make you something to hold the yoke by the bolts.
I just went through mine in the last two weeks in my driveway.

Re: rear differential questions
well i am planning on swapping in the LSX 454 which after some tuning i am hoping to put close to 675-700HP and 600Ftlbs of torque to the wheels. for now i know its over kill. i have a good breaker bar and yeah gonna make something up to hold the yoke in place while we crush it. might just skip the axles for now and get the rest of the parts. still waiting to hear back from a few companies on axles

Call Moser and have them make the axles the way you want them. they will happily put whatever wheel studs you want in the axle flange .. Forget going to the track with this, a 454 lsx and a c clip axle will be a no go.. |

Re: rear differential questions
I would say with the amount you are going to spend on all those parts you will probably be close to the amount it would take to just have a dana 60 or ford 9" rear end built and just bolt it into the truck.
For that kind of power I would look into it. I also agree with the c clip eliminator for the track. |

Re: rear differential questions
I have some emails already sent to moser and Currie. And already looking at the c clip eliminators for my truck. I ended up ordering everything except the axles and wheel studs. Not hard to install those once everything else is buttoned up. I'll post pictures of the build here and in my build thread once I get the parts
