Engine casting number ID?
I got these numbers off the machined pad on the passenger side front of the engine. (under the alt with a long water pump set up)
I can never seem to be able to decode them with these numbers. I don't know if I am going to the wrong sites, or just not looking on the sites close enough... VO726FRS is stamped on top, and directly under that is CFS198728. On the bellhousing it says 5.7, but I never looked for any codes up there last time the engine was out. Can anyone tell me what my 350 is out of? |

That would make sense, I believe Andy said he thought it was an 87-ish block in another post.

86 sounds about right. Thanks.
Where did you decode it? Smog stuff unbolts pretty easily. I bought it as a long block with a couple extra items on it, in reality it was basicly a complete engine without an intake/carb/dist, nor fuel pump. It even had good truck motor mounts, but he wanted to keep them. Thanks again. |
