456 gears
Let me know your thoughts on 456 gears, with 34" tires, and an overdrive tranny. Has anyone used this combo?

Re: 456 gears
Perfect. Should be in the 2400 rpm range in 1:1(3Rd/4th) @ 55. Depending on OD auto or manual ratio. Mine is .69 so 75 is 2000 rpm on 315/70/17 (34.4") but 3.73
Also depends on final goal of truck. Size and power of motor.

Re: 456 gears
Not a bad combo for highway cruising - but 1st gear will get you about 10 ft before it's time to shift into 2nd, depending on which o/d trans you have. You can always start off in 2nd too. If manual, like an NV, I don't know off the top of my head what 1st gear is, but this chart will give you an idea of the o/d effect.
Do you already have the 4.56? If not, I'd recommend 4.10 (but no higher (lower numerically) or it will start to lug the motor at lower highway speeds). Last edited by jocko; 12-03-2016 at 11:12 PM. |
