fuel tank and bed bushing questions

I'm restoring my 67 GMC 1/2 ton. I pulled the original gas tank because I knocked the locking fuel cap into the tank about 25 years ago, when I was far from home without the key. The tank I purchased to replace it is out of a newer 67-72 truck. The newer tank has a vent line that goes between the tank and the filler neck. Is there any reason I can't use this tank in my truck? I figured I better check before having the new tank boiled out.

I'm also pulling the bed to cleanup and paint the frame. I'm not doing a total frame off/powder coating, just a quick cleanup and paint with POR15 or something similar. Are there any bushings that go between the bed and the frame? I read somewhere that they didn't have any from the factory, but there might be some available aftermarket. Any reason to have or not have these bushings? If I install the bushings, will they raise the bed so it no longer matches the correct bed/cab height?

The tank with the vent line on the filler neck I think is a 1971-1972 tank with the EEC system. I know my original 1972 GMC tank has one., I think the filler neck tube is also a tad bit larger than the 1970 and earlier.

The bed just has rubber strips that mount between the bed and frame and frame stands.

My '70 Fremont-built truck has a vented tank. The vent line could be plugged off if the truck is not set up for it. The 71/72 EEC tanks had a 1.5-inch neck instead of a 2-inch neck, which my '70 has.

Thanks for info on the smaller tank neck. I looked at LMC catalogue and it shows a different filler neck grommet for the 67-70 (2") from the 71-72 (1 1/2"). Anyone know if the gas tank hole in the body of the truck is the same diameter on all the trucks? If I get the 71-72 filler neck grommet, will it fit the hole in my 67 truck?

Also, will the EEC tank with the vent hose cause any problems? I'm assuming it wont. I'm putting in a SBC.

My '70 has a '72 cab on it and they have the same size hole. AFAIK the hole in the cab is the same size for all years. The vented tank should not cause any problems as long as you plug the vent.
