More motor mount help
I've searched all over the place, and can't find anything with the same brackets. Or what look like mounts that will work with my brackets. With all the different info about different years, and mounts for different engines my head is spinning trying to figure out what will work.
I've seen a lot of threads with brackets that have the little hump on the bottom, and with one hole. Haven't seen anything like these. It's a '63 GMC 1000 that had a 305 V6. I'm putting in a 305 V8. Can anyone steer me in the right direction for mounts? |

Re: More motor mount help
You need mount brackets from 63 to 66 chevy V8 or L6 but NOT 292 I am doing the same 305 conversion to V8..... And they go in the holes to the rear of where you current brackets are bolted

Re: More motor mount help
So I found these guys at the local pick-n-pull. I think they came off a '65 Chevy.
Do these go with the 2282 type mounts, and just run one bolt through the center? I'm just used to seeing the cross bolt style mount. Don't really want to move it back because I will be using an HEI dist. Read that there may be some firewall conflict with the brackets in the further back holes. Will drill if I need to. Re: More motor mount help
Yes those are the engine mount brackets you want. I would just install them in the rear location, with the correct bracket on the left and right. I have never had a problem with a large cap HEI in a small block in the stock location.

Re: More motor mount help
Where they have to go depends on the trans you are using. If you are using the stock bell housing you are a little stuck. An hei will fit in the motor in the rear position its just a little tight. If you are planning to move everything forward and doing a new driveshaft you can move it all up about an inch and drill new holes. Keeps the weight back as much as you can and gives more room for the hei. On mine I just used a small cap electronic distributor. Much more simple way of getting it done.
