Bench seat question

67 c10 bench seat. The drivers side locks in position. The passenger side always slides.

I was looking in an LMC catalog and I see a cable that appears to link the 2 sides. Is this how I keep the passenger side from sliding?

The first thing I would do is to lube all of the seat adjuster parts and slides under the seat.

The cable (or rod) (or wire) that connects the two seat adjuster latches only releases the latches. There are individual springs on each side that cause the latches to re-seat in the notches in the slide. Here are a couple of pictures of the seat adjuster parts and a couple of threads that show how everything goes together.

This info helped me this evening as I fixed my bench seat, specifically the passenger side that was missing much of the hardware. Your info helped me piece it all together. Many thanks.

The cable locks and unlocks the adjuster on both sides at once. If you don't have the cable your only gonna open one side. If the pass side is sliding all the time there is a little pawl[hook looking thing] that goes into the slots on the side of the track. The whole thing may need a real good cleaning and oiling maybe then you will be in good shape. It sounds like it may be gummed up so that it is not locking properly. Jim

thanx both. This is a big help. Gonna clean it good, and hopefully I just need the cable. and a spring for the passenger side.

I can only give specific orientation where a rod is used. My 72 has a cable (wire). Personally I like the rod better, because they don't break.

Glad you found this. Looks like I failed to post a close up picture of the parts together. I know I posted one somewhere, I will try to find it.
