shortbed blazer question

Question for the experts. I have a 72 K5 that I want to make 2wd. Can I get a shortbed C10 frame and set the Blazer body on it? I mean I know I can, I want to know if there are some serious things I have to do to get the body on, or does the body just lay right on it?

Re: shortbed blazer question

It can be done but it is not a "drop on", The Blazer frame is shorter than a short bed frame and all of the body mounts except the front ones are different.

Re: shortbed blazer question

The shortbed frame is longer than blazer frame so you would have to cut it down to work. Other than that it can be done, but more work involved than just make your 4x4 a 2wd imo

Add the 2wd crossmember to your existing frame.

Probably your best option and what I would do in your situation.

Sell the 4wd and buy a 2wd model. You should get great $$ for it to be able to get the right vehicle instead of cutting up a great vehicle.

I tend to agree. It's your vehicle, but a decent K/5 is getting harder to find.

He won't get enough to buy a 2wd...why do you think people modify what they have?

GM didn't even BUILD a 2wd model in 1969, and from 70-72 only built 5,619 2wd blazers, TOTAL, that's IT, we don't know the numbers on Jimmys, but it can be assumed to be somewhere between 1,500-2,500.

Today, GM literally sells more Silverados in 3 DAYS, than they built/sold 2wd blazers.

WarMonger, that is a seriously nice blazer! It would be even cooler as a lowered "68" blazer

Re: shortbed blazer question

The 4wd's out number 2wd by a huge margin. I looked for 2wd's for years before I ever found one for sale (at a reasonable price).

Good luck, Rg
