Rebuilding Tilt Column question
So, I am doing everything in this build except for the Body/Paint work and the differential gear set up.
I am trying to go through the Tilt Column. I have searched and read all of the posts concerning rebuilding them. My question is besides the special puller used to remove the Housing Cover(J-22708, which is no longer available), what other types of pullers has everyone used with success without damaging the housing? Found out the tool is also J-22598. Have you fabricated your own?If so, can you post any pics? Thanks Last edited by Zeroman; 01-16-2017 at 11:12 AM. |

Re: Rebuilding Tilt Column question
Andy4639, I have found an inexpensive puller which I might be able to modify easily for the job.
I will post back once I receive it, and give it a try. |

Re: Rebuilding Tilt Column question
I did everything on my truck except:
Paint Automatic Transmission Internals Dana 60 gear setup Steering gear internals Tilt Column Internals I think I got mine from 70SHORTFLEET on the board. If you're not in the market to buy one from him, I'd bet he'd still know the answers to your questions if you can track him down.

Re: Rebuilding Tilt Column question
Once you get the turn signal housing off you will want this pin puller also the pull the pivot pins after you remove the spring. I have pulled them without this tool but it is much easier with the correct puller, and its cheap.

Re: Rebuilding Tilt Column question
I was able to get the signal housing off with a plastic hammer. Just light taps and work it off. I used a bolt, a washer and a socket to remove the pins. Take lots of pics and notes. There are lots of parts.
