Need to order today - opinions wanted

I am right in the middle of a front end rebuild and I need to order a drum to disc conversion kit. I have found far too many options and my head is about to explode. I have read all the reviews but still have not bought one.

I do not want this to hold up my build but based on the last shipping data of my other parts that may be the case.

I am not sure if I need a different master or prop valve. I attached a picture for your viewing pleasure. I do not have a ton of cash. I found the POL kit for $540 and a few others for a little more.

** The speaker wire is from the previous owner. I have not done the wiring yet.

OK so now I need an entire kit including the master and prop valve. I have all the ball joints, tie-rods etc already. Well that just sucks.

I would leave the drum brakes on it as long as they work till I could find a deal I like. I have had several of these trucks with drum brakes and they stop just fine.

Agreed. Shoes in good condition and adjusted right will stop very good with power to them

Do you know anyone that sells new backing plates? the drums I took off were not so good and they had a bit of rust on them. I would need to have everything blasted and painted so I do have some work involved. While I am doing this I thought I should update the brakes.

Re: Need to order today - opinions wanted

Actually, you can run that master and everything else(distribution block) if you like. Pull the residual check valve from the master side and gut it, and pop it back in. I ran mine like that for quiet awhile after my drum to disc axle swap. The brakes worked great, better than they do now. The reason you need the bigger reservoir on master side is so the fluid can draw down as the disc pads wear; and if you fill the reservoir as the disc pads wear, you need to remove some fluid before a disc pad replacement. I am going to start collecting parts for a hydroboost conversion. But you can get yourself running with what you have on there.

The best company for disc brakes and bolt on spindles is Early Classic Enterprises. They've been doing this stuff longer than anyone.
Customer service is second to none.

Re: Need to order today - opinions wanted

Does anyone know if they have a forum discount or a customer coupon? I saw the 899 deal but then add shipping. This quickly gets more than I can spend.

I had a great chat with Mark and decided to bite the bullet and ordered the disc conversion stock height. I am in deep now and now I will have a new frontend.

I am waiting patiently for the upper and lower control arms, springs, shocks, and now the disc brake kit. All the ball joints, tierods, pitman and idler arms are here.

All that to get to thank you for your opinion.
