Re: Who has best carpet kits
Just put one in from brothers turned out pretty great for my first time. Think average price was around $150

Re: Who has best carpet kits
I agree with Grumpy and Randy. I bought ACC mass backed from Rock Auto and am very satisfied. Stock Interiors sells it for a bit more but has more color options and will also send samples if color match and pile type are undecided.

Re: Who has best carpet kits
Is there a glue that's used to hold a new carpet in place, or does it stay in place with the seats and sill plates?
I'm ordering my new carpet soon, so I'm a sponge for info. |

Re: Who has best carpet kits
On mine I used 3M Super 77 to spray the back of the carpet and the floor for adhesion. Prior to laying the carpet I put down a layer of Fat Mat for road noise dampening.

Re: Who has best carpet kits
I've also seen a couple types, supposedly there is one out there that goes all the way to the back of the cab (ACC brand) for when the tank is removed, but I can never seem to confirm 100% that is correct. Has anyone bought one that goes all the way back? My last ACC carpet stopped right in front of the tank.

Re: Who has best carpet kits
We sell Trim Parts carpet... you have the option of getting it to go to the back of the cab, or stop at the tank.

Re: Who has best carpet kits
I'm thinking about getting one from Brothers. I notice their rubber matts are about $50 more than their high hump carpet kits. I replaced an OEM rubber matt after 35 years with one from LMC. It started decomposing only 5 years later. Rectangular chunks, along the scored lines, would pop out.
I may have replaced the original 1968 matt with a GM matt from the Chevy dealer once in the '70s ot '80s, when you could still get NOS from them for decent prices, but the import matts are trash. I may have to go with a carpet. I'll check out RockAuto.

Re: Who has best carpet kits
This carpet was mat backed. I also sprayed the 3m adhesive it's the aac carpet from brothers. 2 little ripples by the floor hump but they are getting better every day

Re: Who has best carpet kits
I Used ACC from one of the big aftermarket stores (LMC). Before I bought it I had mixed reviews about buying here, but I heard all positive about ACC. However, nowhere on the site or book does it say it is ACC, but when it arrived the box was from them. The carpet turned out very nice and installed rather easy. It stays in place with the dimmer, door sills, seat, belts, etc. It goes to the back of the cab. I also used the gas tank cover from AAC. I laid mine out inside for a few days so it could freely unform from the packaging box. It comes with jute pad, and I installed the rubber deadener underneath it. I was happy for a first time installer. I did not pull the tank, so that is why it is rolled up in the back.
