Stop Lamp problems :(
Ok here it goes...
The other day I wasd fallowed by my parents they tell me I have no stop lights. I check bulbs good. I check Fuse good. I check the Brake switch by the brake pedale. Went to Chevrolet got a new one. Still lights do not work. The bulb lights up with parking lights but not go brighter when braking. Any one with any ideas would be helpfull. PS: I also have no backup lights if that helps. I checked the bulbs on them and the fuse for that all good. I have replaced all bulbs and all fuses.

what ya need to do is to get yourself a wiring tester and check to see where the power is terminating. Im guessing that perhaps the power isnt getting past one of the wiring connectors under the truck and you may have to clean out the contacts.

Stop lites no work
The firsr place to check for any problem electrical is the fuse block. The old style glass fuese are very prone to corrosion. Spray the fuses and connection with WD-40. This will improve any connections a great deal. Using a trouble test lite check for all fuses to prove good. A major part of the brake ;lites is the turn signal switch. If the turn signal switch is defective the brake lites will not work. Lastly, there are several moulded wiring plugs the lead to brake lites inside the cab. These connections should be check with a trouble lite for power. Determine the color wires for the brake lites. The left and right will be different colors.... If the turn signals work, usually the brake lites will work......

I would check the ground wire to them to start with.

No can check ground wire to lites
There is no ground wire to check. GM uses very few grounds in the electric systems. All the lamps and lites are connected to a metal parts and gain a ground. The only grounds I have witnessed are at the battery cable, radiator support to frame and headlites. Some trucks have ground strap at the right rocker cover. to the firewall.
Usually if lites are dim or yellow, then a poor ground connection is suggested, not a ground wire to check...... No offense intended.... I'm old.......
