alternator help again please

I just bought a new alternator and its already bad I think. here are some pics of how it is wired right now. the small red wire goes to the fuse block and the big red wire is going to the +battery post. I think its wired wrong because the harness is cut off at the block and I think that it is the old alternator harness, I will post a pic and maybe someone can tell me.

I don't have the engine wiring diagram here, or I would tell you. The harness plug you have there is for the alternator using the internal regulator. The little jumper wire is for bypassing the external regulator. Judging by the harness in your truck it looks to have been chopped pretty good. I would get a wiring diagram, I think there is one on the board here somewhere, or someone can post the engine side of it to show where the wires from the alternator go. Good luck, Jeff.

Here's how I did it. This is the alt. side, just replace left side with left side, and right side with right. The pig tail should be availbe at any parts store.

I still lost the wiring diagram kinda confuses me because when I got the truck the wiring was already hacked and it shows stuff going to the external regulator and a junction block? sorry im not the greatest at this wiring stuff, can anyone kinda walk me through it?

Hey Adam12, hopefully you have already solved you alternator problem. But if not or if you need other alternator / starter motor help, I've had real good help from Quality Heavy Duty Diesel Electric here in town (Bakersfield). jerdog
