SEM Saddle?
Who has used an SEM color to match GM Saddle? Looking at their chart I'm leaning toward Camel #15173. To me that looks closest. Their chip of Saddle Tan #15033 isn't even close. Anyone use a good match? I need to dye door panels for my '72

Re: SEM Saddle?
I've done several of those tan colors. Recently I sprayed saddle on a seat and it was just to orange looking.
I restored my blazed 7-8 years ago. The seats and door panels are sandstone. Dash pad is buckskin( which is a real good match) but I don't think that color is available anymore. Maybe they changed it to camel?? I'm not sure |

Re: SEM Saddle?
Not sure if this will help you or not, but this is SEM saddle tan I used to lighten some dark brown floormats on my 65 Mustang. I believe it is too light vs GM saddle, but the only saddle remains from my truck are the dirty seatbelts that were under the seat.

Re: SEM Saddle?
To me their Saddle is a close match to Sandalwood. I might just buy a can of Camel and test it out. I have rel nice door panels in my '72, but I just bought a pair of blue with 6 1/2" speaker cut in under the arm rests. I was thinking to dyw those to have some good tunes. I would never do that to panels, but what's done is done and I'd like some good soundin' music. I'll set my good ones aside for safe keeping.
Thanks for the replies and pictures

Re: SEM Saddle?
Yeah, I meant to say before how good the work looks in the pictures offered. Now I want to see the whole vehicles! If the paint shop is open Saturday morning I'll get the dye on my way through.

Re: SEM Saddle?
This post is a few weeks old, did anyone ever find a close match? Did the Camel work?

Re: SEM Saddle?
I ordered it in, put the cap up against my saddle door panel and it's not right...lighter. It could be the cap isn't a good sample. I was thinking I should spray a test shot to compare. The Camel is definitely closer than the Saddle. Still a tad light, I think. It may be close to '69 Saddle which is lighter than my '72. I'll do a tst and show it this weekend.

Re: SEM Saddle?
Yes I did. I went ahead and painted the panels, and didn't like it. I thought I had posted up some pics. Been too dang busy to keep track!
Here is the SEM Camel up against original '72 Saddle:

Re: SEM Saddle?
Even though these are temporary door panels, I didn't think t was close enough. I found this M42 GM Dark Saddle paint on Ebay by Parts Place...part#1809. Better, but not right. I'll live with it

Re: SEM Saddle?
You're welcome. I think if I was doing panels for a restoration I'd get some paint mixed to match off a scan. I think I will do that once the original panels come off. Gotta get off my butt and order a window seals/channel kit!

Re: SEM Saddle?
I found this thread while looking for what color 621 Saddle really is.
I need to order a seat cover for my K10 Cheyenne that you didn't know about. Most suppliers list a light saddle and dark saddle and I can' figure out which is close to 621 saddle. Is yours code 621 saddle vinyl Tim? Someone dyed the door panels to match the non original seat cover, and they are both lighter than I remember. The headliner is missing. I need one BTW. Pictures to come later.

Re: SEM Saddle?
Is that code from the SPID? I'll check in the morning. If not, I can't say. I see light and dark saddle carpet options. I know the '70 Saddle is lighter than the 71/72. That seat cover in my pictures I bought from Cheyenne Superman in '91. It was a perfect match to the original seat in the '71 I originally bought it for. My '72 originally had a blue interior, but I have the glovebox door from that '71 still.

Re: SEM Saddle?
I remembered after I made that post, I have a very original 72 Custom Camper out back with saddle interior. I will look at it.
I'm not sure what that will tell me, because the vendors just go by light and dark.
