Mirror Selection
I'm looking to buy some mirrors for my 67 Suburban. I like this style of mirror but I'm wondering if they are kind of useless? They seem kind of small and I'm just wondering if people who have this style can actually see out of the mirrors?
![]() If I do not go with this style above I will go with this style below. ![]() Thanks, Nick |

Re: Mirror Selection
Mine came with the big trucker style with the tripod mount. Thought it was overkill so I welded up the holes and went with the one in the second pic. In hindsight, you could you the small circle ones, the burb is mostly windows all the way back so it's not like newer cars where your over the shoulder view is all obstructed by plastic.

Re: Mirror Selection
I don't like the top one, was just not enough mirror for me. I have ones like the bottom photo but I installed a smaller round mirror on the arm. They work just fine.

Re: Mirror Selection
This does to a certain degree depend on what your putting the mirrors on and how you plan to use the truck. A panel or small window 67, no way I could live with the small mirrors. A Suburban or other pick up the small mirror is doable but as daily driver in traffic not very comfortable. Anything thing with a trailer the larger the better.

Re: Mirror Selection
I have the small round OEM style as well. They do work pretty well, but also leave a bit of a blind spot down low on the passenger side. I have thought about replacing the head with a convex? head mirror on the pass side. I would be fine with the distortion, but Im not sure how funky it would look.

Re: Mirror Selection
On my 51 I have round reproductions that are about 6 inch and the passenger side is a convex. Really convex!

Re: Mirror Selection
Love my west coast mirrors. Great rearward visibility but you have to get used to driving with the forward/side visibility blockage issue.

Re: Mirror Selection
If you are interested in the small type mirrors, hot rod shops sell a brand called "Fattys", They have a slightly convex shape to them. Nice but pricey .

Re: Mirror Selection
Actually its electrical wire, but it got the backing plates in position without having it remove the door panels.... yet again. Went home thinking I was a genius!
