How to make your blazer drive better?
I have a 72 Blazer that is lifted with big off road tires. It wanders a lot going down the road. So I replaced the steering box and the power steering pump and made it better. But it is still not as good as I would like.
I read a thread about a guy replacing his steering box and someone posted this........ "I hope that the steering box will solve your on highway driving. I changed mine with no difference checked balls everything come to find out rear springs were rocking back and forth. Spring pads were misaligned so i aliened the pads solved the problem. Good luck" That made me think where to look next to try to improve the steering and make it easier to drive. Any suggestions? |

Re: How to make your blazer drive better?
Tapered shims between the front springs and axles for more caster. I'm running 6.5 degrees total and have 12.5 X 33 tires. I've had it over 80 with no issues.
Don't go with a high ratio box, because it will make things worse. Blazers with 104 wheel base are too short for quick boxes if you plan on driving it at higher speeds. |
