71 Chevy Custom Deluxe Short Bed
Well I guess I should start a build thread. I purchased a 71 Chevy Custom Deluxe Short Bed from the original owner son. Have the original bill of sale and Protecoplate. It's had a driver quality repaint about 20 years ago. Started out life white over dark blue. Color was changed to lite blue that I actually prefer. Kind of a odd ball. Factory tinted glass, factory front sway bar, ps, non power disc brakes, 3 spd on the column, 350 engine, chrome bumpers and factory ac. No side trim. Oh, almost forgot those ugly full wheel covers. Future plans. Factory bucket seats and console. Drop it 4/6. Probably rally wheels. Maybe up grade to something later. New exhaust at some point. I know how you all love pictures. So here's a few to start. I'm on my phone so pictures won't load. I'll do it this evening after work. The first picture is how I got it. Previous owner was backing out of his garage and caught the bumper. Ended up destroying the grill shell and inner grill. Second picture is after the new grill and front bumper were installed. Finish that off last weekend. More to come later

More pictures of my work in progress. The last picture was from tonight. Installed courtesy lights. Simple up grade that makes a huge improvement to lighting in your cab. Thanks to Board member Roger Koop. Check out his wiring harness on the parts board.

Re: 71 Chevy Custom Deluxe Short Bed
Thanks Greg. Looks like you have a pretty sweet GMC to work on. I have a 70 GMC Custom that's pretty much original also.

Re: 71 Chevy Custom Deluxe Short Bed
Things I have completed so far. Mostly small things. New antenna, side marker lenses, deluxe peddle trim, new rear view mirror, new glove box, up graded steering wheel, emergency brake handle, inner and outer grill and front bumper. Installed under dash courtesy lights. I'm having a pair of bucket seats being restored to new condition and I'm looking forward to getting them installed along with a center console and new carpet.
