1967 GMC Super Custom?
Hey guys,
I'm wondering what I have here. I bought this truck from the original owner, it's got less than 100K original miles, and is completely rust free (nothing in the bed, rockers, front fender cups, etc.). It has super custom badges on it, but I've heard different things about the 67 super customs from only coming in big window (mine is small), the doors panels not being metal (mine are vinyl), and the mirrors being body color (mine are chrome). It's been in California all it's life as well. Can anyone shed some light on whether or not this is a real super custom? And if so, what is this thing worth? Should I hold onto it, or sell it? |

The sticker on the backside of the glovebox is missing. I decoded the vin and it matches everything, but it doesn't seem to have an indicator of trim level?

I don't know, but it's quite "chromy" for a '67. You have the chrome trim around windshield and vent windows, which is a high end package. Mirrors are easily switched out. SPID will tell the tale and list what you see if it's all original. And the list will be loooooooong!

These are the same options that my 67 GMC Suburban came with as well. Chrome bumpers, trim and custom package. Nice looking truck, its so rare to find them that original and in great shape.

Re: 1967 GMC Super Custom?
Super custom is just a group of stuff added to the truck.
In 67 only bucket seats were part of this group. Horn button was deluxe, chrome vent window panes. Dress up stuff Stuff like that. Large rear window, engine size, air conditioning were all separate options and had absolutely nothing to do with super custom. The body side mouldings were a separate opinion as well but I have never seen a super custom without them. Need more pictures. Last edited by chewychevy67; 09-20-2017 at 10:44 AM. |

Re: 1967 GMC Super Custom?
So here are some more pics. Sorry for the quality, I work late and it's raining. It's got the original manuals (one of them is still in the plastic). It originally came with a large wrap-around bumper (we swapped it out for the smaller one). Also, I see no signs of any molding being filled in (I checked the backs of the panels).

Re: 1967 GMC Super Custom?
It's got vinyl door panels (the arm rests are not on), the column was swapped to a tilt column, the original rubber floor mat is in it, chrome trim around the rear window, and the original hood sticker under the hood.
So what do you guys think? Is it an original super custom? Is it worth keeping or should I sell it? At this point, the gauges don't work and the rear end is leaking. Everything else is pretty much perfect. |

I don't know what you mean by "worth keeping". I guess it depends on how much you want for it, but I've never seen a '67 that wasn't worth keeping :-)

Re: 1967 GMC Super Custom?
Most 67 GMC's didn't have a spid for some reason. Super custom or not I'd just drive the wheels of that truck. It's a sweet ride.

Re: 1967 GMC Super Custom?
Most if not all '67 GMCs had no SPID. It very well could be a Super Custom. It really can't be proven or denied by inspection of the truck. If the trim on back of cab is original to your truck it had 2-tone paint (just top). The seat was probably sold or kept by the p.o.
I don't know why is or isn't would have anything to do with keep it or not. Fix the rear end leak and gauges. Everything needs something sometime. That truck needs less than most vehicles 25 or more years newer. If I was you I'd keep it for the same reasons you bought it. I don't see a disappointment there. I'd be more disappointed if I sold it.

Re: 1967 GMC Super Custom?
Right- you don't get a paint break molding unless there are two different colors to break up. That is one NICE looking truck, in great shape.
