68 Chevy Truck C-10 327 Replace Alternator Belt

I am trying to put alternator/fan-water pump belt on and power steering pump belt is in the way. How do I loosen/ remove steering pump belt so I can pass between the steering pump pulley and the fan-water pump pulley with the alternator belt?
Thank you,
Al

The power steering pump adjustment bolt is easier to access from under the truck. So grab a flashlight, climb under the truck and look around. You will see the adjustment bolt and the slot it slides in, this will need to be loosened up, you will also need to loosen the pivot bolt that this all pivots on, then you can loosen thing enough to remove this belt.

Re: 68 Chevy Truck C-10 327 Replace Alternator Belt

Thank you Outfield, that was easy. Now I've discovered the belt is a skosh short. I loosened alternator and moved it to the left until it hit metal. I removed bottom bolt of alternator, put belt on, then I couldn't put bolt back in and belt was too tight.
I have concluded belt is too short even though this is the recommended belt.
Will call Napa for next size. Any recommendations?
Thank you

Take the belt to Tractor Supply ....they have belts in one inch increments....

You will just need to go and get a belt a little longer. I found out when replacing the belts on my '69 that what was recommended was too long... so I needed to go a skosh shorter.
For some reason the computer records for these old trucks are not as accurate as the old book were for parts lookup.
