Frame Differences between 67-72 and 73-89 K10s
What are the differences between the 67-72 and 73-89 k-series frames.
The reason why I ask is because I have a 72 K-series truck that I want to swap dMax in. While doing some research, I ran across a company, Precision Fabrication Plus, who offers dMax swap products (swap mounts, engine and trans crossmember) for the c/k-series 73-89 trucks. They claim that their products product two Engine Placement Positions, No Body Lift Required, No Engine Oil Pan Modifications, For use with OEM or Aftermarket Turbo, & Can Fit Up To a 3" Diameter Down Pipe. |

Re: Frame Differences between 67-72 and 73-89 K10s
The later frame rises more under the bed so that the 67-72 cab needs to be lifted an inch or so. The later frame is longer in front of cab, front springs are longer. The core support needs to move back the difference and frame ends cut.
No big blocks in 67-72s. With engine back tight into cab the big block swaps have required some firewall "massaging". So I imagine the same issues for a Duramax. Not sure how a "kit" would work. Could be as easy as finding a good location. But people have fit the Duramax into these trucks
