Re: 1969 c20 Starter/Flywheel
Welcome to the jungle!!
Could be a few things. Wrong bolts used. Bolts not tightened to spec. You need to shim the starter to get the teeth to mesh. Or you need a starter brace. |

I have bolts that are the right size but they where from a random project not car related do they need too be special bolts ? I've tighented pretty tight so I do t believe that's the issue The chims on mine only bringing it farther from the flywheel so thatg would accomplish the opposite I've never heard of a starter brace I'll look into it |

Re: 1969 c20 Starter/Flywheel
You need knurled shoulder bolts like these.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/ARP-Standar...-/331358870909 Your local parts emporium will have them. You might need to play with the shims. They make half shims too. Parts store again. Starter brace goes on the end of the starter. It helps sometimes but try correct bolts first. A thread on the brace. You can actually make one from a piece of angle iron but they are available. Parts store of course. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=492532 |
