Best Fitting Replacement Fixed Mast Radio Antenna

Searched extensively on the forum but all the data is old. Looking for a source for a replacement antenna with a fixed length mast (for FM) antenna that fits the original cowl mounting location for my 71 Cheyenne Super. Anyone buy one recently that fits properly? Vendor / part number would be great.
Thanks,
Randy

Re: Best Fitting Replacement Fixed Mast Radio Antenna

I am going to try the fixed mast off my 2006 to see if it makes a diff from my stock type adjustable mast. If it does I will purchase a stainless 31" whip. I have adapter threads coming to try the 2006. Will see. Also down in audio I modified a non-67-72 - newer - AM/FM delco into my 67.

I went to the local Autozone parts store and bought a stainless steel antenna. It's probably not 100% OEM in appearance but it looks era correct.

Re: Best Fitting Replacement Fixed Mast Radio Antenna

I bought one 3 or 4 years ago that fits as well as the original telescoping mast antenna on my '69. I got it from an eBay seller in St. George, Utah. Problem is, I'm no where near my records and am not sure of who made it, but it may have been Counterparts. Below are a couple pictures. One shows the base of my original compared to the installed reproduction. The other is a zoomed in version of the only picture I can find with the antenna clearly visible. I'm fairly certain the original fixed mast AM/FM antennas used a different base if that's important to you. The antenna in this link appears to look the same as mine. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-1972-C...RZ6h-c&vxp=mtr

Prior to buying mine, I had converted my original to a fixed mast. If interested, I can describe how I did it. Very simple and something to consider if you have an original in good shape.

Re: Best Fitting Replacement Fixed Mast Radio Antenna

Well it isn't a fixed mast but last weekend I installed this telescoping antenna from Classic Industries. The angle was right on and had the proper keyway to fit the notch in the cowl.

Re: Best Fitting Replacement Fixed Mast Radio Antenna

Great help all y'all! Ordered a fixed mast antenna yesterday from Classic Industries. Will follow up on this thread as to if it's a "keeper" or a POS.

I'm in, going to install a reproduction radio and I was considering the inside antenna that the radio company offers to replace the original. I'd rather have the original replacement though if it works.

Re: Best Fitting Replacement Fixed Mast Radio Antenna

Info ------- If you have an oem extension mast or a LMC aftermarket repop the thread into the base should be 1/4 x20. I plan on cutting the threads on a removal -- many out there. The mast I am using has a blank extension before a smaller finer thread. Cutting threads on stainless with tool steel dies is not easy but keep lubed with trans fluid and work it back and forth.
