Split heater core housing - worth fixing?
Took it off this evening in hopes of cleaning out the rats nest inside. To my surprise, it came out in TWO pieces!
So is it worth fixing? maybe JB welded together? Or should I start from scratch at the junkyard?...trying to figure out my options at this point. Looks like someone tried to fix it at some point so I don't think it was my fault.

Re: Split heater core housing - worth fixing?
Not too expensive. As hard as it is to get to I would replace it. I got my A/C unit with a heater core and evaporator for $30 at the junk yard. Only one I've seen in 5 years though.

Keep your eye on Craigslist. You can often find people parting out a c10 and prob get it for pretty cheap I would imagine

Re: Split heater core housing - worth fixing?
I'll keep my eyes open for a replacement, thanks. Is there a quick, easy way to check if the blower motor works?

You can change over your blower motor to the new housing. To check the blower motor simply ground the housing to the battery ground and touch a test lead wire from battery postive to positive wire connector on the blower. I recently replaced mine. They are only $25 RRM

Re: Split heater core housing - worth fixing?
Mine was busted pretty much in the same place. I repaired it using a simple fiberglass repair kit like this one. https://www.amazon.com/3M-420-Fiberg...ass+repair+kit
Looking back, I wish I had taken the time to form an insulated lap joint at the narrow center to ease changing or cleaning the fan or heater core without taking the whole unit apart. Fiberglass repair is quite easy and a very durable quick and permanent fix...PS The black wire to ground, the spade terminal to 12 volts. If the fan spins it's good...

Re: Split heater core housing - worth fixing?
Of course you do! How hard is it to use an a/c box for a non-a/c truck?
