I bought 2 quarts of Oil Stabilizer at .97 cents each at my local A/Z. They were out of the zinc additive, but the store guy called around for me. No luck, though. So what do I use oil stabilizer for anyway? He also said Rotella SAE 30 still had the right amount of ZDDP. I said I didn't know Rotella came in straight weights, I thought it was all 15W-40 but there was a couple gallon jugs of 30 weight on his shelf. So is it true that Rotella straight weight oil still has sufficient amounts of ZDDP for our pre-catalytic/hydraulic cam purposes?

Looks like you scored You probably saved a couple hundred just on the Shell additives ? I always check the clearance for the deals I'm going back to see if the gear oil is on clearance here .

Grumpy, thats not gear oil, its oil stabilizer(black bottles). Only the "additive" section had clearance. I did score 150 quarts of oil two years ago for $1/quart when they closed out some items at end of year.
