would you guys be interested??
i got this dash bezel made for my autometer gauges a while back, but some of you guys have shown interest in purchasing some more from me. The bezel costed me about 90 dollars to make, so i would be selling it to you guys for around 100 +s&h. does that sound good to you guys. It will either be made in finished aluminum or stainless steel. The money i make would be going towards me going to Costa Rica with my high school physics class. It costs 1700 dollars to go, so i gotta make me some money somehow eh. Well, here are some pics of the bezel. Tell me if you would be interested in buying one from me.
thanks, 67pro-street |

Better charge more than a $10 mark up if you plan to make enough money to go to Costa Rica

You may have already answered this, but I'll ask in this thread anyway...
A) Is it a complete replacement for the gauge bezel or does it stick on to the original? B) Can you give us a close-up of the edge? Is it a rolled edge? Milled? Looks cool from the pics, but at $100 I'd want to know. C) Same price for aluminum vs stainless? D) If it's a stick-on, will it fit around stock gauges? I don't mean to sound nasty or hateful. In fact, it's the first aftermarket unit that I've actually really liked. The only reason I ask is that I'm seriously interested. The fact that it could send you on your physics trip is even better! BTW, ever read any of Richard Feynman's works? He's the father of quantum electrodynamics, he put quality time in the bomb that roasted Hiroshima, and he's an all-around cool guy. Check out "The Pleasure of Finding Things Out" or "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!" for starters. Oh, and if you haven't read it already, John Gribbin's "In Search of Schrodinger's Cat" is an absolutely AWESOME book. Once you've chewed through those, grab a copy of "The Tao of Physics" by Fritjof Capra. He makes significant ties between Eastern philosophy and modern physics that will blow your mind. Uh-oh... my jock-sense is tingling! I'd better shut up now.

Ah! That extra angle clears a lot of things up! Hmmm... that'd look extra sweet if the silver/chrome on the original unit was painted black (or even body color in your case). I'll second 68 Suburban's point in any event, a $10 mark-up is going to make for a looooong walk to Costa Rica!

yeah, i would like to charge more, but then no one would want to even look at it, so i have to keep my prices somewhat fair. shuttermutt, the answers to your questions are A) it just sticks on to the original. I have it pressed between the gauges and the original bezel and it hasnt moved anywhere yet. B) I will take some closer pictures tomorrow of the edges for you. C)not sure yet, i gotta see what i can get it in first. D) it could fit around the stock gauges, but then different dimensions for the bottom holes would be required. I have the hole sized made to exact autometer specs for 2.25" gauges, 2 5/8" gauge, and 5" gauges.
I hope this information helps. I would also like to let you guys know ahead of time that if there are only a few people who want them, then i dont think i will bother making more. I will try to keep this thread at the top of the board for about a week or so and see how many people are interested, and then i will let you guys know if i am making them or not. If i do, it will take about 1 or 1.5 weeks to get them out. Last edited by 67pro-street; 11-04-2003 at 11:45 PM. |
