1970 c20 drivers front axle
I have a 1970 C20 4x4 that has a broken ear off the drivers side front axle. I ordered the axle from a scrap yard and the one they sent me is not right. The long part of my axle measures approximately 36 1/8 inches from the end of the axle to the center of the u-joint. The one they sent measures about 37 inches. The splines are the same on both. Does anyone know the part number of my axle, I cant find any numbers. My scrap yard is having a time finding the correct one. Does anyone know of one available? I believe its a Dana 44 and has 8 lug bolts. thanks Paul

Re: 1970 c20 drivers front axle
Yes it's a Dana 44. If it's the original axle it's also somewhat uncommon. '70 axles are open knuckle (first year) & drum brake (last year) so it's a one year only axle.
IDK if a later open knuckle, disc brake 44 has the same length axle shafts. Later year axles (73 & up?) have larger u-joints. |
