72 c 10 door adjustment question
IS there a way to adjust door fitment in and out wise . theres like just enough play that when closed you can pull both doors in and out and feel about 1/8 in free play. door edges are all even. never had to mess with a 67-72 tk door in this manner before. all help is appreciated once again. tk has 152k miles on it, my new project tk. gotta do 2 door skins, cab corners inside bottoms of doors also along with new r. ft fender. possible rebuild / replace rad core support . done body panels b4 so no problem there. thinking about doing a long bed to short bed conversion also in addition to complete new bed.
thanks bob

Re: 72 c 10 door adjustment question
The play sounds like it is from worn door seals. The play can be taken out by moving the striker plate on the door frame. But it will pull the door closer and you may see the difference in how the door fits closed. A better fix would be to replace the door seal and that should solve the problem. I believe if you go with the push on style you can remove it when you start the body work and then reinstall it when your done. But I am sure that someone else will know if that is possible and hopefully correct me if I am wrong.

Check the door latch as well.Sometimes a worn one will cause the same trouble you described. The pin that holds the wheel in the latch wears.

Re: 72 c 10 door adjustment question
Also a small amount of play in the door hinges creates some play. New bushings can be had pretty cheap. The trick is to mark the exact location that the hinge is in..both sides before you remove them. With the door open you should be able to tell if they are loose, hold the top of the door and see if it moves when lightly pulled and pushed, and or lifted from the back.
