Finishing Static drop
When is low to low finishing up the suspension doing static drop, have to stay in what budget , kind of surprised how low this turned out have done several 67-72 but first time for this gen, have 4.5 inches at cross member in Upstate NY this is marginal with heaved roads and potholes going to give it a try see how goes

Re: Finishing Static drop
4.5 at the cross member gives you about 2.5 at the LCA. That's too low for me.

Re: Finishing Static drop
There is still 300 pounds to go on that truck. It will be bottoming out. Whats in it for parts on the drop.

Re: Finishing Static drop
I see you have gone with a crate engine. Good choice. Ride height looks good.

Ride height is lookin' good. How much suspension travel do you have before the inner fenders bottom out on the tires? I'm fighting this issue on my '68 right now. I am in the process of putting it all together and will have 2" of travel before my fenders bottom out. I'm thinking I need to remove the inner fenders and possibly modify the fenders for more clearance. Maybe even relocate the hood hinges.

Re: Finishing Static drop
I ran my '66 with 215/75-15's up front and had about 1.5" of travel before it hit the inner fenders. The crossmember/LCA's would occasionally bottom out over really rough spots. Go with a stiffer gas shock to help it from bottoming out as easily. Mine still rode as good as stock with relocated KYB Gas-A-Just shocks up front.

Re: Finishing Static drop
Thanks! 2.5" spindles with 1.5 coils cut off the original springs up front, rear had 1.5" drop blocks and I bought the springs used so I'm not sure the exact drop amount. They were supposed to be 5" but I'm pretty sure they were only 3 or 4". There's a ~220 pound crate in the bed in that pic, so go with 5" springs and 2" blocks to match that look.
