68 LWB Fleet - Bumper ?

So, I'm looking to clean up the looks and pull and store the factory step bumper, and swap on a painted sport bumper. This brings 2+ questions to mind;
1) Will the sport bumper bolt up to the step bumpers brackets?

I've seen in other posts where folks are getting the chrome sport from RockAuto - as they believe the "rechrome" is a factory original (good steel, not the China junk steel used on most repops).
2) So, should I get the chrome and pay the extra to get the "OEM bumper core" and strip paint the silver to match the front, mirrors and grill surround?

2a) Or buy a painted repop bumper and hope for the best...(any of these using the "OEM Core" good US Steel?

2b) Or, should I post in the WTB classified section? Already check Ebay & Craigslist, nothing local at all (would likely be rusty anyway)…

Thanks! Mike

Brackets; time to hit LMC, or other recommended vendor? Any preference...

Nice, got a sport bumper picture or two to post up, chrome or painted...?

Re: 68 LWB Fleet - Bumper ?

Good luck, I looked since 2014 for a good painted rear bumper, no joy!
After I thought about it most of our vintage trucks were sold with no rear bumper or a dealer installed step bumper.
The exception would be a loaded Cheyenne, or super with chrome sport bumpers.
These trucks where used for work. I just bought a painted rear repop bumper from Summit, It's .030 thinner and I just painted it this weekend, will report after install.

.030 Thinner. Brings a question to mind

Everyone with a repop Sport Bumper, what is your bumper thickness? Factory bumper thickness?
Curious if there is a difference between the suppliers, sources.

Re: 68 LWB Fleet - Bumper ?

My painted bumper felt the same weight as the bent one I took off , looked like the same thickness . Mine was from SOKY (Southern Kentucky Classics) .
