Are these the real deal?
Looking at buying a 68 and it has these. Any tips on identifying them as correct buddy buckets?

Re: Are these the real deal?
Those are from a Dodge more than likely, based on the upholstery. The adjuster handle looks correct though. Check and see if the frame is a direct bolt-in, and the floor is not modified. If they are a direct bolt in, they are probably from a 66 gmc, as they came with them in rare instances and have that upholstery pattern as well.

Re: Are these the real deal?
Tough call from the pics...if they are 66 gmc buddies I would value them about the same as 67/68 buddies. I haven’t seen a set of Dodge buddies for sale in a loooong time for some reason. If they are 66 buddies and you want to move them I’d say about $800? I’ve seen a couple sets priced a tad higher with people interested, but no sale yet. Dodge buddies I’d say about 3-$400 to move them. Hope this helps.

The Dodge seats are quite a bit different than the GM ones. The bolsters on the seat and back have more roll to them.(see picture) They are not flat like the GM buddies. These are in my '67 Panel Truck. Is there a jack instruction decal inside the storage box? Here are the original ones in my '68 CST. (See picture) LockDoc

Here’s good way to tell frame difference. Spacing on outer brackets.

Re: Are these the real deal?
I saw some buddy bucket type seats in a Jeep J-truck in the junkyard a while back. They looked really similar to the ones you posted.

Re: Are these the real deal?
Don't go by the upholstery they've been recovered ,All buddy bucket seats have pleats that go up and down not across the seat they have welt cord around the covers not top stitched seams , Does the center fold up to reveal a storage compartment ? and does the top fold down to armrest position ? If the price is right buy them .I reupholstered a number of Buddy seats both Chevy style and Dodge and the only difference I've ever noticed was the foam and seat covers the seat interior frames were the same .even if the seat interior frames ar rusted out you can replace them with the Smittybilt seats

Re: Are these the real deal?
.I like the look of the dodge seats. They have more styling.

Re: Are these the real deal?
It's been a while since I've seen '66 GMC buddy buckets but I believe they had horizontal pleats and these may be original yet. If Dually jams was around, he could tell you.

Re: Are these the real deal?
I guess they were. They sold 40 minutes after we listed them. Thanks for all the info.

Re: Are these the real deal?
They were. I saw the frame in your for sale ad, it was at least from a 67/68 Chevy
or GMC.
