Parked in a Field for Over 4 Years.
It's been parked out at my friend's property and not started for over 4 years. We're going to go out there and try and get it started.
I'm taking about 10' of fuel line, a fresh can of gas, a battery, an extra carb, and maybe 10' of wire. Also some tools of course. Am I forgetting anything? That's it with the wood stacked on its utility bed.

Oh yeah, brake fluid.
It has an HEI.

Re: Parked in a Field for Over 4 Years.
Great suggestions.
My buddy said if we could at least get it to the main road, we could use his triple A card to to my shop. :-) Very likely we'll need a weedeater and wasp spray.

Re: Parked in a Field for Over 4 Years.
If that truck was left in a Kansas field for 4 years the cab would be filled with rodents. One of the first things we do when pulling a vehicle from a field (or barn) is to leave heavy bowl of antifreeze on the floorboard a week before. Then when you go back and sit in it a rodent won't brush against the back of your leg

Re: Parked in a Field for Over 4 Years.
A portable compressor to fill the tires and a chain to pull it out. They usually sink in the ground around here.
You may also want some water or coolant if you plan to actually drive it.

Small hose clamps for temporary fuel hoses too. I’ve forgotten those little bastards so many times and had them pop off or leak lol but some pb is a good call. And a good pair of vise grips just in case

marvel mystery oil, a long neck funnel and spark plug socket set to lube up cylinders. couple gallons of water for radiator and a broom handle in case the hood hinges are wore out, and a .22 to peg the critters coming out of the truck

Re: Parked in a Field for Over 4 Years.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
Us old men after spending most the morning on the lake decided we'll just rent a trailer and haul it back to my house.

Re: Parked in a Field for Over 4 Years.
4 Years, that's nothing. I pulled my truck out from behind a barn where it had sat for 22 years.
I have changed out the fluids, put on new hoses and belt, new brakes etc. But is is up and running and will soon be my daily driver. Oh, and new tires. I was lucky, mine was here in Yakima Wa. Super dry all year, so the motor spun by hand with ease. They can be resurrected. |

Re: Parked in a Field for Over 4 Years.
It's just been killing me having it sit out there.
I had done so much to it, and i don't want that to be wasted. Mechanically it has all the 73-87 upgrades. 14-Bolt Full Floater. Complete Front Crossmember with New Power Steering and Power Disc Brakes. New windshield rubber. New rear window rubber. New cab mounts. Nice 90's Service Box. And only a few miles on a GM Goodwrench 350. I was restoring it to be a work truck for my construction company. But now having a desk job and my 65 back, I have no need for it, but I can't leave it out there either.

Re: Parked in a Field for Over 4 Years.
Do you guys think my 65 c10 with a 283, a TH350, and 3:73 rear gears can tow this 66 c20 service truck?

Re: Parked in a Field for Over 4 Years.
If you have a receiver hitch and trailer brakes, yes. Or do you mean with a tow bar or chain?
